Ports

Panama has a network of ports that provide a varied set of services for the transportation of containerized, bulk, liquid, and general cargo, as well as passengers at cruise terminals. The Panamanian ports of the National Port System (SPN) are grouped into two sectors: state ports and private ports. Private ports are those that were granted to private operators (through concession), after the privatization of some of the state ports. State ports are those that are still operated by the State, under the administration of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) and correspond to those that provide berthing and other related services to local and cabotage users.
